My Gram'mom was a tiny lady, but she was a powerhouse in the kitchen. When I was little, she used to give me my own mixing bowl and spoon to "cook" along side her, and encouraged frequent tasting of whatever she was making. I still use many of her "tools"--including a cherished set of cast iron skillets (how DID she lift that really big one?) and her pound cake pan, shown above. Others, like her potato salad bowl, her wooden spoon and whisk, along with a few other kitchen "contraptions" serve as a source inspiration for me as I dream up new recipes and ways to make even better desserts!
